If one were to identify a New World ancestral home, La Prairie (The Meadow) south of Montreal would be a good candidate.
Many Gagnons and Remillards lived there or in nearby communities such a L’Acadie, Napierville, and St. Valentin.
The community of L’Acadie got its name from the displaced Acadiens (Acadians) who relocated there.
I have a lot of relatives that came from La Prairie.
The Hebert, Liquia, Remillard, LeMay families for a couple.
They ended up in MI, USA
I was born in Marquette co. MI
